From guest starring on Nickelodeon’s hit TV show, iCarly, to starring on the newest Nick hit, Big Time Rush, and working on a new studio album, James Maslow seems to be everywhere these days. New to the Maslow-mania? Find out why James Maslow, and the show Big Time Rush, have become Nickelodeon’s new sensations.
James Maslow started out his career in the entertainment business singing. With roles in musicals like, Grease and Les Misérables, it’s no wonder why Maslow has become a sensation today as part of Nickelodeon's made-for-TV band, Big Time Rush. Maslow began his career singing and always hoped that he could do so for a living. And now, his dreams are coming true, if only in an unconventional manner. First aired in November 2009, and continuing in January 2010, Big Time Rush revolves around the lives of 4 boys, including Maslow, and their search for stardom as a popular boy band. They go through everyday life together, and perhaps, this is what makes the show so enthralling. Their friendship and off-screen and onscreen shines throughout the series. Maslow feels that because of their brotherhood, “the comedy between us becomes that much more real, and thus funnier." And, I for one, couldn’t agree more. With the show’s first season barely underway, famous guest stars have already graced the series with their presence. Stars like The Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger have guest starred, even doing Britney Spears impressions on set. There are more stars in store this season, but Maslow says he’s “not sure that I can give all of them away right now." Maslow and his character, James Diamond, may look and dress the same, but the differences between them couldn’t be bigger. He describes Diamond as “driven, narcissistic, and lovable,” quite a triad of characteristics. Aside from being much more concerned with how he looks, Maslow says of his character, “what drives Diamond is fame and attention, while I am far more attracted to being able to do what I love, acting and singing, for the rest of my life.” This sense of modesty and dedication to his dreams is what makes Maslow so likable. “The best feeling in the world is to see a kid smile because they recognize me from the show, and to be able to make that kid's day by talking with them and telling them that dreams really do come true”. And isn’t that what we all want? Our dreams, like Maslow’s, to come true. Quote this article on your site
