The Space Needle is 520 ft. above Seattle's metropolis. It was originally named "The Space Cage". 2.3 million visiors went up in the elevators during the 1962 World's Fair, almost 20,000 people per day.
When visiting Seattle this is a must see. With breathtaking views of the Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, and the wonderful city view this is a great place for the young and old. Inside you'll take a 41 second glass elevatio ride to the 520' observation deck where they have information and show pictures of it's construction. You can also take a break at the Starbuck's cafe or dine at the beautiful SkyCity restaurant.
Originally SkyCity was named "The Eye of the Needle". With it's 360 degree view while dining and award winning wines you must stop in for a meal. They are proud to serve fresh seafood and fine aged meat from local waters. SkyCity serves lunch Monday thru Friday, brunch on the weekends and dinner 7 days a week. They also have a kid's menu to appeal to the younger guests.
We visited with our 3 yr old and 1 yr old at the Observation deck without incident. Both were really good and enjoyed walking around seeing the boats and buildings and being so close to the clouds as my oldest says. Indoors you're kept busy with interesting facts and trivia. Some at lower levels for the kids.
Overall this was the best place we visited while in Seattle. Also, make sure to stop at the gift shop on the way out to get your official Space Needle sovenier. Although we didn't have time to stay for a meal it looks like atruly unique dining experience and next visit we will definitely include it in our plans.
