Hot Spots: Hilton Head Island - Restaurants
Steamers
When visiting Hilton Head Island deciding where to eat can be an overwhelming decision. One that is a great buy and a must eat when Steamers Seafood Company located in Coligny Plaza. If you're looking for a laid back setting for lunch or dinner then Steamers is the place for you! With plenty of outdoor seating overlooking a scenic pond, the setting alone is enough to draw a crowd. But, that's not all this tourist hot spot has to offer.
Like many of the restaurants on the island seafood is a given on the menu. Though the menu is somewhat limited, the dishes come in great portions and there are some alternatives to the seafood. If seafood isn't your cup of tea, there are some chicken dishes on the menu. If seafood is your thing, I highly recommend the seafood salad which is a dish that you don't find everywhere. A salad garnished with blue crab and shrimp. Even if you are not a seafood lover this is a great, light dish that everyone should try. There was a great variety of seafood on the menu and it seemed from what I saw that everything came in very generous portions.
The prices were very reasonable for the area and the portions. There was little wait in March, yet the weather was perfect for dining outside. The service was very quick and all of the wait staff were very friendly. Overall the restaurant has a great, relaxing atmosphere and is a must for anyone searching for a reasonable, laid back taste of Hilton Head Island.

Just Pasta
Another great find in the tourist filled area of Coligny Plaza is a very cozy Italian restaurant that is full of ambiance. Nestled within Coligny Plaza this small restaurant has a surprising amount to offer. If you are looking for a home-made Italian meal then Just Pasta is your place!
This restaurant is a tight fit and if you are not looking for a cozy setting then I would not suggest it. However, if you're looking for something a little different than your average cookie-cutter chain restaurant, then this is the place for you. The setting is very romantic with low lights and soft music. If the setting isn't enough to draw you in the food is delicious and there are plenty of options to fit whatever you prefer. Along with the classic Italian dishes that you would expect like Chicken Parmesan and Spaghetti, there is also a make your own dish option. This option allows you to build your own pasta dish, allowing you to choose the type of pasta, meat, sauce and vegetables you would like in it. This is a great, unique option that you don't get everywhere and it really makes dining here a much more personalized experience.
The prices were on the higher side for this type of restaurant, but were well worth the options and portions that you receive. The wait staff were friendly, but I would suggest eating lunch or an early dinner since this place does fill up quickly with the limited amount of space. Overall this cozy Italian restaurant cannot be beat if you're looking for a quiet dinner for two.

The Quarterdeck
Located in Harbour Town within the Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island this harbor side restaurant has an atmosphere that cannot be found anywhere else. Along with great food and service this waterfront bar and restaurant even has live entertainment in the evenings. This makes it a great hang out for people of all ages.
The Quarterdeck has a variety of food and drinks. The menu is full of cold and hot sandwiches along with other dishes. This is a great place for lunch or dinner. This laidback restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating and even a canopied area for protection from the vicious sun in the middle of the day. The location could not be better. This very reasonable restaurant is surrounded by a variety of shops as well as a pier full of fantastic water sports and activities all located in on convenient location. Lunch, activities and shopping all in one place; what could possibly be better? Well, add in live entertainment against the sun setting and you have The Quarterdeck Restaurant. The atmosphere in the evenings is unmatched by any other that I experienced while on the island.
The wait staff were friendly though this place is often busy and they seemed a little stretched at peak times. They did however maintain composure and were always friendly. Overall, the food and service is great and the prices and atmosphere are unbeatable. If staying in the area or visiting the Sea Pines the Quarterdeck is an absolute must visit.

The Santa Fe Cafe
Away from the beaten path, and likely missed by most tourists The Santa Fe is a must visit while on the island. The Santa Fe Café is a hit with the locals and if you step in during lunch time you are likely to find a variety of people all enjoying a nice meal on their lunch. This is one reason you might want to try to come on an off time unless you don't mind a little bit of a wait. This Southwestern style restaurant has so much to offer, you cannot miss it when visiting Hilton Head Island.
A variety of extremely reasonably priced foods combined with great service really make this restaurant a delight. The portions are very generous and the meals even come with a free dessert of churros a delicious, sweet funnel cake-like stick with whipped cream on the side. This is the icing on the cake after an absolutely delicious meal. With a variety of chicken and steak dishes there is something for everyone.
The staff is great and very friendly and willing to make the time to meet your needs even when the restaurant is completely packed. This fact combined with the food and prices make this place a must visit when in this area. You will not regret it, I promise! Overall, this restaurant is a great pick for anyone looking for a relaxed, but delicious meal. You will almost positively have a full stomach and a happy face when you leave this place.
