RATING
4.5 out of 5

I must admit, ever since I heard of the Sims, I have been addicted and the recent release of The Sims 2 has only added to my addiction. The Sims 2 is so realistic that it is kind of scary. The animation is the best I have ever seen, even the facial reactions are realistic. One of my favorite aspects of the game is at the beginning, you must pick an aspiration for your sim and your choices are: family, romance, popularity, wealth, and knowledge. Once you select one, you must try and fulfill the goals for that aspiration. If you fulfill goals, your sim will be happy and they will earn points that they can use to buy things that help them to fulfill their goals. However, if you don't fulfill those goals your sim may just go insane, literally.

Another amazing aspect of The Sims 2 is that the sims get pregnant. When a sim is pregnant her stomach actually gets bigger and she wears maternity clothes. Throughout the pregnancy the sim has other life-like actions such as morning sickness and tiring easily. The sim also has an increased appetite and has to pee more often. I thought that this was a great new element and really made the game even more realistic.

One of the big differences between the original Sims and the Sims 2 are the houses. In the old Sims, your house could only have a maximum of two stories and you could only do certain things with the house. In the Sims 2, you can make the house several stories and you can have foundations which make them look realistic. In the Sims 2, you can even make porches and decks, which are a great addition for those house parties.

Another big difference is how your sims look. In the original Sims, you got to pick what you sim looked like from a variety of faces. Now, you can customize your sims! First, you get to choose the look of your sim. After that is when you really get to dig in and custom make your sim. You can widen the cheeks, the jaw, the lips, anything! When your sims decide to have kids they will even look like a combination of the parents. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it's not.

Overall, The Sims 2 is truly one of the best PC games I have ever played. The game has stepped up to a new level. I can only imagine what the future sims will be like. If you liked the original Sims then you will absolutely love The Sims 2.
