RATING
4 out of 5

The latest sequel in the hit “Killzone” franchise is not for the Playstation 2 like its predecessors, but instead for the sleek, on-the-go PSP. Aside from the platform switch Killzone: Liberation also brings other changes to the game series.

One of the most obvious changes in Liberation is that you are now playing from a third-person shooter perspective rather than the first-person shooter perspective like in past Killzone games. Liberation continues the intense storyline of the series with the continuing war against Helghast forces. The fate of the world is in your, Jan Templar, hands and it is your duty to successfully complete covert operations and conquer Helghast.

I found Killzone: Liberation to be moderately difficult. The game play is pretty smooth and will most definitely have you drawn in for hours. The beginning missions are relatively simple, but they gradually become more complex as you move forward. One great thing is that if you die you are able to start again from a recent point versus having to do the entire mission over again -- having to start all over again is one of my biggest pet peeves. The downside to replaying missions is that everything is played out nearly the same way every time therefore I knew where to go and when to attack based on previous attempts. This makes it fairly easy and I am one that enjoys a challenge so this counts against the game, in my opinion. However, you do have the option to increase the difficulty level if you are like me and enjoy more of a challenge.

Overall, I have become addicted to Killzone: Liberation, which speaks for itself. It is an excellent action thriller that will have you on the edge-of-your seat as you try to save the world. This is a must-have if you have been playing Killzone for Playstation 2 and if you haven’t I highly recommend it!
