Note: 'The Getaway: Black Monday' is rated "M" for Mature. This title is directed only towards those 17 and older.
Organized crime is taking over modern day London, what are you going to do about it? You will be playing as three different characters, Eddie, Mitch and Sam, each with their own unique personality and skills to fight these organized gangs. In 'The Getaway: Black Monday' you will face different circumstances with each of these characters and the decisions you make will ultimately determine the outcome of the game.
'Black Monday' is one of the most diverse and unique games that I have experienced with Playstation 2 thus far. You have the ability as the player to make critical decisions that can alter how the story unfolds. The game is much like a movie in which there is a storyline with a great amount of depth. Between each major scene in the game you will watch a mini-movie that gives you a greater insight into the story and reveals your next mission.
There are many pro's and con's to 'Black Monday' with the pro's far outweighing the con's. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have some things to complain about. The movies, while interesting, can become an annoyance. Then again, maybe I am just impatient. For the most part the graphics in the game and the movies are very good, but could still be improved. This is really all the complaints that I have. One of my favorite things about the gave is the auto-save feature in each mission which allows for a quick restart if you happen to die during a mission.
Overall, 'The Getaway: Black Monday' has become a new favorite of mine. The game successfully blends gaming and movies like no other game that I have seen before. The storyline is thrilling with many unexpected twists. The best part of the game, in my opinion, is that you can play this game many times and change how the story develops. Each character has their own agenda, motivation, strengths, weaknesses and more which allows for you to play the game from different perspectives. If you enjoy mission-based games then 'The Getaway: Black Monday' is what you are looking for.
