What do you want to see on Teen Scene? Tell Us

Movie Box - Rachel Melvin

Rachel Melvin who plays Chelsea Benson, a misguided teen on the hit daytime drama "Days of Our Lives" recently talked with Teen Scene. She may be a vixen on TV, but Rachel is the opposite of Chelsea. Rachel told us that when fans come up to her they say, "You're so different from your character."

With soap opera's being year round, Rachel is constantly getting new scripts. Rachel explains, "We get a script a week in advance. I'll look at the script the night before because dialogue can get confusing." Rachel doesn't know a lot of what is going to happen with her character but she did say, "There is a love triangle unfolding between Stephen, Max and I."

Rachel grew up in Arizona, but loves L.A. "It appeals to more of my interests. So much to do here!" Rachel fell into the acting from doing High School plays and the acting bug stuck with her. The next step she knew would be to move to L.A. She misses Arizona, but is able to go back once a month to get a piece of home. Getting used to L.A. was an adjustment. Being in L.A. Rachel says that having to audition is an awful process. "Its about luck and preparation. You can only control the preparation." When Rachel takes rejection she lives by her motto of "Everything Happens for a Reason."

When asked if Rachel wants to pursue any other professions, she revealed, "That's why I'm an actor. I want to do everything!" There are many talented actresses, but Rachel looks up to actresses, Meryl Streep and Rachel McAdams for being able to completely transform into different characters so well.

Rachel's advice to young actors out there is "take everything with a grain of salt." With a career in full force and good head on her shoulders, Rachel is on her way to be an actress with a long career!
