“Over the Hedge” is the latest Dreamworks animated film in theaters everywhere. The voices of an all-star cast of Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes and Avril Lavigne bring the world of animals alive. The story follows a group of forest animals who wake up from winter hibernation to find out their forest isn’t the same anymore. It’s now a suburban development over the hedge. The animals together get the strength to venture to the other side to see what awaits them.
Teen Scene was on hand at the premiere and caught up with some of the stars on the red carpet to see what they have been afraid of, but got the courage to overcome it. Lindsey Shaw (Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide), told Teen Scene, “I just got over my fear of rollercoasters!” That seemed to be the same theme for people because both Chris Massey (Zoey 101) and Paul Butcher (Zoey 101) have finally rode rollercoaster’s after being afraid too! The star of “Hannah Montana” Miley Cyrus said, “I’m scared to fly. But, I wanted to see my friend so I did it and it wasn’t that scary.” Also from “Hannah Montana” Mitchel Musso told Teen Scene, “I had to sing on the show and it was so different. I had to sing in front of 100 people and just did it. The audience started cheering and it felt so good!”
Wanda Sykes who plays Stella the skunk in “Over the Hedge” was excited about doing an animated film, but thought it was the most difficult job she’s ever done in entertainment. “You’re by yourself. Everything I rely on to be funny, they take it away from you. It’s about trusting the director.” Watching herself on film was “trippy.” She was thinking, “Man I have a lot of chemistry with Bruce Willis and I’ve never meet Bruce!” To be part of such an extremely talented cast was a lot of fun for Wanda who exclaimed, “It was one of the best things I’ve ever done.”
You just might think twice before you see one of those local critters in your neighborhood. They need a place to live too. “Over the Hedge” is a family film for everyone. Don’t be afraid to venture to the theaters!
