Lost & Found: Movies/TV
If you ever find yourself trapped in a dark pyramid with an angry, violent mummy in front of you, you better hope that Brendan Fraser is by your side. Fraser is probably best known for his role as a brave archaeologist who battles such creatures in the aptly named movie "The Mummy," as well as the sequel, "The Mummy Returns." But, Fraser wasn't always an Indiana Jones-type heartthrob.

Brendan Fraser was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 3rd, 1968 to a Canadian father. His family moved around frequently, and during a time in London, he discovered his love of theater and acting. After studying at Seattle's Cornish Institute, Fraser played minor roles in "My Old School" and "Dogfight," eventually gaining bigger roles in films such as "Encino Man."

Fraser credits his big break to the movie "George of the Jungle" in which he plays a bumbling young man who has been raised by monkeys in the jungle. Since then, he has gained major attention in bigger movies such as "Blast from the Past," "Dudley Do-Right," "Looney Tunes: Back in Action," and of course, "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns." "Scrubs" fans may also recognize him from a brief stint on the medical comedy. While "Looney Tunes" and "Dudley Do-Right" showed off Fraser's comedic talents, his 2004 film "Crash" was a serious drama that won the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture of the Year.

As for Fraser's personal life, he has been married to his wife, Afton Smith, since 1998. She even had a small role in "George of the Jungle" while they were still dating. The couple have three children, all of them boys. More recently, Fraser has wrapped filming on two new movies, "Journey 3-D" and "Inkheart." Most anticipated may be the third "Mummy" installment, "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," still in filming. If you're anxious for more Mummy action, however, you can check out Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, at Universal Orlando, to which Fraser lends his voice. In the meantime, Fraser will continue to work hard in everything he does. As he says in his own words, "As a young man, I prayed for success. Now I pray just to be worthy of it."
