Cover - B5: All Grown Up
With a culture compiled of hardcore rap artists and rough lyrics the band B5 emerges combining traditional panache and lyrical mastery with modern day rap appeal. B5 came onto the music scene back in the early 2000's. Stealing the hearts of female fans all over the world, the Breeding brothers Dustin, 19, Kelly, 18, Patrick, 16, Carnell, 15, and Bryan, 13 who make up B5 are back on the scene with a fresh new sophisticated sound. We caught up with the boys to talk about their inspiration, producing music and where they see themselves in the future.

Aligning with Disney, they appeared in the ever-popular High School Musical, but now the boys are making music appropriate to their age. Their second album on Diddy's Bad Boy Records entitled "Don't Talk, Just Listen" says it all. This time around they want to be taken seriously, and not viewed as young kids anymore. Realizing their fans were growing up with them it was time for the boys to follow along side. "It wasn't hard to give the producers the direction we were going in. They ran with it, we gave them a direction and they worked around it, we wanted all the songs to sound different, but to maintain the consistency of the album."

"It's clean music but it has more of an edge," states Kelly. Their lyrics have matured as well. Embracing their audience, their songs narrate teenage relationships, having fun and dancing and partying in the clubs. On their "Don't Talk Just Listen" album, B5's songs revolve around the sentimental experience of love and relationships, detailing an assortment of stories derived from their past. Inspiration for the album came from their mom, family, God, fans, Jackson 5, Usher, 112, New Edition and Jay-Z. B5 has created hits such as "Hydraulics" with Lil' Bow Wow and "So Pretty" with J-Kwon.

"Don't Talk Just Listen" released on September 25th, 2007 and debuted at number 27 on the Billboard 200 selling 19,000 copies in its first week.

When asked about their future Kelly stated, "We plan on being seen on top clothing lines and TV productions." Dustin only had relaxation on his mind, "I see the band sitting in the Bahamas sipping Pina Coladas, on the beach, in the hotels, on a yacht and smoking cigars with Diddy." Now, that's something even I would like to see in my future.
