Mischa Barton. Marcia Cross. Hilarie Burton. Ever wonder how to get your hair to look as good as theirs? Well, look no further. We asked top stylists how you can achieve the hairstyles of the hottest TV stars this season!
Hilarie Burton – Peyton Sawyer on One Tree Hill
Those luscious blond curls! We’ve all dreamed of having hair like that at one point in time. Deven Ross, a stylist at Avon Salon & Spa in New York City, suggests beginning your regimen by using a shampoo and conditioner to enhance curls. (We like Ouidad Curl Quencher Shampoo, $10, and Curl Quencher Conditioner, $12, both available at www.ouidad.com.) Next, comb Avon Advance Techniques Daily Results Anti-Frizz Capsules ($4.99 at avon.com) through your hair before drying it with a diffuser. When your hair is fully dry, curl two-inch sections of your hair with a medium barrel curling iron. This look works best for people with oval and heart-shaped faces.

Mischa Barton – Marissa Cooper on The O.C.
Marc Jacobs dresses. Chanel handbags. Long, silky locks with just a hint of a wave. Marissa Cooper has it all! Celebrity hairstylist Luke O’Connor, who has worked on everyone from Debra Messing to Ashlee Simpson, says to start by washing your hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. (We like ThermaSilk Moisturizing Shampoo, $5.99, and Moisturizing Conditioner, $3.79, both available at www.walgreens.com.) Towel dry and apply mousse evenly throughout your hair, from roots to ends (try Pantene Pro-V Curl Defining Scrunching Mousse, $3.99 at www.cvs.com). Next, blow-dry hair with a diffuser “so you can maintain as much of the natural wave” as possible, says O’Connor, and then wrap one-inch sections of hair around a small barrel curling iron (no wider than 1 ¼ inches). Finish by applying a curl sculpting gel such as L’Oreal Vive Curl-Shaping Spray Gel ($4.19 at www.drugstore.com) to each section for added definition and movement. This look works best for people with square-shaped faces.

Next, blow dry using a paddle brush (we like Sephora’s Paddle Brush, $32 at www.sephora.com). O’Connor suggests starting by washing your hair with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner (we like Umberto Giannini Sleek and Chic Straightening Shampoo, $5.49, and L’Oreal Vive Smooth-Intense Conditioner, $4.19, both available at www.drugstore.com). Towel dry and apply a smoothing cream, such as ThermaSilk Straight & Smooth Leave In Cream ($3 at drugstores and mass market retailers nationwide). Blow dry hair in sections with a large round brush, flipping out the ends as you go. Finish with a smoothing gel, such as Aveda Brilliant Retexturizing Gel ($5.50 at www.aveda.com) – O’Connor says this will help to hold your style throughout the day. This look works best for heart-shaped faces.

Debra Messing – Grace Adler on Will and Grace
To have hair that’s a deep auburn and have those beautiful curls? Debra Messing is the luckiest woman alive! To achieve her style, start by washing hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as Frédéric Fekkai Moisturizing Shampoo with Shea Butter and Frédéric Fekkai Moisturizing Conditioner with Shea Butter ($22.50 each at www.sephora.com). Towel dry and mist with a leave-in conditioner (we like Aveda Elixir Daily Leave-On Hair Conditioner, $9 at www.aveda.com). Next, apply a curl-enhancing cream or gel (try Bumble and bumble Wavy Woman Curl Conscious Curl Creme, $26.99 at www.drugstore.com). For maximum volume, flip your head over and blow dry with a diffuser – then flip your head back up and curl one-inch sections around a 1 ¼-inch curling iron. “As you take hair out of the iron,” O’Connor says, “stretch out each curl to create loose, softer waves.” To finish the style, use a straightening cream or serum such as Philosophy Curly Head ($11 at www.philosophy.com). This look works best for round-shaped faces.
