Fashion vixen. Style maven. Any way you slice it, Lindsay Lohan’s style sense and knack for fashion lead to a look the masses just can’t wait to copy. And, how about those gorgeous locks? From auburn to brunette to platinum blonde, the girl knows how to work it. Interested in her latest look, but not sure how to pull it off? Teen Scene is here to help!
First up: the cut. Long-haired ladies, this one’s for you. (Sorry, pixie girls – but never fear, there are still parts of the Lohan look you can adapt!) Ask your stylist for long layers – the shortest should reach your shoulders. This will give your hair movement and texture.
So you’ve got the cut – how to style it? Start by washing with a curl-enhancing shampoo – we like Pantene Pro-V Hydrating Curls Shampoo (around $5, available at drugstores). The key to this look is volume, so after your locks are squeaky clean, run a dime-sized amount of thickening lotion through it (try Aveda Volumizing Tonic, $13 at www.aveda.com). To bring out the curl and get rid of frizz, follow with a dime-sized amount of Frédéric Fekkai Luscious Curls Curl Enhancing Lotion ($18.50, available at Sephora stores). Blow-dry with a large round brush. After hair is dry, finish by wrapping one-inch sections around a large barrel curling iron, such as the Conair Hot Air Curling Iron & Brush ($19.99, available at www.walgreens.com). And voilà! A style even Lindsay would be proud of.
But, what if it’s the color you’re after? That gorgeous, glistening shade of deep auburn Lohan has been sporting recently? Totally doable! If you’re changing your hair drastically – going from platinum blonde to deep red, for example – you should go to a professional colorist, to avoid mishaps. But if you’re only changing it by a few shades, there’s no reason you can’t do it yourself. Only interested in a temporary change? No problem – pick up a box of Clairol Natural Instincts Haircolor, which washes out in 28 shampoos. We like Roasted Chestnut or Rosewood (around $8, available at CVS stores). Want to go the whole nine yards and make it permanent? Try Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Crème in Chocolate Cherry ($7.29 at www.drugstore.com).
And there you have it – Lindsay Lohan’s style, made all your own!
