Facelift - Valentine's Day Make-Up Tips

It's Valentine's Day: And whether or not you have a boyfriend, nothing should stop you from having the most fun possible channeling your inner-goddess. Valentine's Day is an entire day of beauty and allowing yourself to be caught up in corny romance, and an opportunity to allow yourself to truly "pretty it up" for your special Valentine (or simply for the fun of it). Glamorous makeup is the key to living this holiday to it's fullest. Let the focus be on "girly" colors like reds and pinks, or if you must break up generic stereotypes then go for purple. The key to not looking overdone is to pick a feature and focus on it; if you are blessed in having anything remotely close to Angelina Jolie lips then that will be your focus, if you dazzle and hypnotize by your eyes then play those up. Pick one to accentuate and you're sure to stop any boy in his tracks.

If you're a lip girl:

A pouty lip is the look, but in order to really stop traffic the key is making them pouty and kissable. No boy would ever want to kiss lips full of goopy lip gloss. Instead, try a moisturizing lipstick. If you're game is dramatics to its fullest, then red lipstick is perfect, but in order to not look like you're trying to hard, take a red, put on a coat, then immediately blot most of it off, next, very gently run a thin coat over your bottom lip and press your lips together for a perfectly red but not overdone look. To Fasionistas: To go a little funkier, try the same technique but instead use a deep pink fuchsia shade (Sephora Cream Lipstick in 67 (vibrant fuchsia), $6; sephora.com). There is a great lipstick by Cargo (PlantLove Botanical Lipstick) that's environmentally friendly and the design is the cutest little Valentine's Day looking tube that is just too adorable to resist; for the perfect red try Maria ($20; sephora.com). For a more affordable alternative, try Sephora brand lipstick in 94 (classic red). But don't neglect your eyes or you will look unbalanced, avoid eye shadow or eyeliner, instead, go a little heavier on the mascara for movie star lashes. Look for mascara brushes that are thick and big for the equally thick and big lashes, a great one is Benefit's BADgal Lash Mascara in rich black ($19, sephora.com).

If you're an eye girl:

A smoky eye is a must to fully transform into a siren. To create a valentine color inspired smoky eye: First, go heavy on BADgal Lash Mascara in rich black and really build up huge lashes. Next, line your upper and lower lash lines with a dark brown pencil (try Sephora Brand Slim Pencil - Eye in Dark Brown 212, $4; sephora.com), use a really light shimmery pink on your brow bone (Hard Candy Eye Candy in Cotton Candy, $12.50; Eye Candy line exclusively at Sephora, sephora.com), then in the crease use a slightly darker shade of pink, also use this pink and brush a line of it under the brown pencil of your lower lash line (Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Hotpants, $16; sephora.com), then finish off with a dark brown eye shadow right on your eye lid (Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Stray Dog, $16; sephora.com), and voila a pink inspired, yet still smoky, eye. Finish off with a light shimmery pink lipstick to draw even more attention to your eyes (Cargo PlantLove Botanical Lipstick in Sarah, $20; sephora.com). Be beautiful and try not to break too many hearts, girls!
