stormiteenusa.jpgWhen we were little girls a lot of us imagined what it what it would feel like to be a princess, or the American equivalent, a pageant winner. Some of us even attended beauty pageants and maybe won a few. Stormi Bree Henley is living the life as the ultimate pageant winner, as the winner of the Miss Teen USA 2009 beauty pageant in Atlantis, Bahamas.

An aspiring actress, Stormi explains her motivation to partake in the beauty pageant.  “I believe I was 11 when I did my first pageant… I have always known that I really wanted to get somewhere and achieve something.” She describes winning the Miss USA pageant as “a dream turned into reality… and achieving something I always wanted.”

A true beauty queen, she describes her winning elements as courage and responsibility which she has learned on her journey to becoming the winner of the pageant.

The Pageant process usually involves a lot of components: from practicing your walk, talent (singing, juggling, dancing), your answers to judges questions and trying to decide what to wear.  Stormi explains that what truly ties it all together is a persons "sparkle," “There is never too much sparkle in terms of personality when it comes to pageants, but you can really see the sparkle in someone’s eye when they feel truly confident and comfortable with themselves.” Being confident, comfortable and true to yourself is what brings out the sparkle that attracts people to you.

During her reign Stormi hopes to help young women everywhere learn to be comfortable, find their own sparkle, and have the courage to make the right decisions such as avoiding drugs and alcohol like she has done.

Stormi’s interests include golfing, a gift she got from her dad who is a professional golfer, she also loves motocross riding and someday hopes to have a house with lots of space to ride. She describes her perfect car as one “that looks chic and exotic but has all of the qualities of a muscle car. It would be completely black, flat black, wheels and all…. “The Perfect Storm.” She also likes Egyptian culture, biblical history, working, travelling, wakeboarding, and playing football. Not what you expected of a beauty pageant winner?

So far the best moment of her reign was seeing 16 year old singer, Justin Beiber, “I am such a Beiber fan,” she laughs. Stormi hopes to build relationships with organizations dedicated to helping her achieve her goal of empowering teen girls throughout the USA.
