Twitter has become an overnight success, booming in popularity from students to businessmen and even celebrities. Naturally it wasn't long before music artists jumped on the bandwagon and joined Twitter as well. Like MySpace and Facebook, Twitter has become the newest platform for music artists to expose themselves on. Though there are hundreds of artists using Twitter, some artists outshine others in popularity, connectedness and are what we here at Teen Scene consider to be “Twitter-ific.” Here are a few music artists that are taking Twitter by storm.
Demi Lovato [www.twitter.com/ddlovato] Lovato is a singer and actress who got her claim to fame through the popular made-for-TV Disney movie, Camp Rock. She was signed to Disney's Hollywood Records and released her debut album Don't Forget in September of 2008. Like other artists, Lovato has taken to her Twitter page as a platform to promote her summer tour and new album. She keeps her fans in tune with the countdown to the release of her new album, and reminders of different events she will be at. Lovato even uses her Twitter page to connect with her fans. “I can't thank you guys enough. You aren't just fans who are there for me when I need you, bu you are my friends. Cheering me on 100%” Lovato recently posted.
John Mayer [www.twitter.com/johncmayer] Mayer is no stranger to the public eye, so it seems only fitting that he would take to the Twitter community as another means of connecting with fans. Twitter allows Mayer, and other artists to update their “followers” of their actions throughout the day. With multiple posts a day on his Twitter, Mayer definitely keeps his fans clued in to both his actions and thoughts throughout the day. Fans can easily turn to his Twitter page, rather than other news sources to find out what he is up to. Mayer even has over 1 million people following his Twitter page.
Paramore [www.twitter.com/paramore] Currently on tour with No Doubt for the summer, Paramore is using their Twitter page as a way to stay connected to their fan while on the road. Through their page, they are able to remind fans of tour dates and the date of their album release, or even clue in followers to last-minute events. Paramore even uses their page to speak directly to their fans and supporters. “Thank you to everyone who has preordered the new album! Stop by paramore.net or itunes if you haven't ordered yours yet!” Paramore recently posted. As music artists go, they definitely have promotion down pat.
Taylor Swift [www.twitter.com/taylorswift13] Taylor Swift uses her Twitter page to constantly connect with her fans, and to update them on her life. At time she posts about events or news about her music, but most of her tweets are just about her everyday life. This gives her fans a close up look into her world, and helps her connect to them on a more intimate level. Currently, Swift boasts over 800,000 followers on her Twitter page, with that number growing on a daily basis.
Miley Cyrus [www.twitter.com/mileycyrus] Miley Cyrus is no stranger to the world of Twitter, and she is is constantly updating her page throughout the day. Most of Cyrus' postings are about her personal life, which allows fans to catch a glimpse into her everyday world. The one on one interaction definitely keeps Cyrus in touch with her fan base. With well over one million followers, its apparent that Cyrus is taking Twitter by storm.
Pete Wentz [www.twitter.com/petewentz] Wentz, who is usually the face of Fall Out Boy is a major tweeter on Twitter. He keeps his fans and followers entertained with his postings and keeps an update on his life with his wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. Wentz even goes out of his way to promote the likes of other artists and bands on his page. “Head over to www.panicatthedisco.com to read a note from Spencer and a lil something extra Wentz posted recently. With close to a million fans, Wentz can definitely be considered a “Twitter-ific” artist.
