Obama Chooses Joe Biden for VP

August 23rd, 2008

Barack Obama has officially announced that Delaware Senator Joe Biden will serve as his Vice President.Biden became part of the Senate when he was just 29 years old. He is now 65 years old and considered the “ultimate insider” by many in Washington DC. Though he represents a very different viewpoint than Obama’s mission for change, Biden does offer Obama quite a bit of foreign relation experience.

The first Obama-Biden event will happen later today at 3pm (EST) at a speech in Springfield, Illinois.

A source within Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels’ office tells Insider Gossip exclusively that Barack Obama will announce tomorrow that Indiana Senator Evan Bayh will be his Vice President. Due to the secrecy surrounding Obama’s decision we have not been able to confirm whether the news is true or not. Supporters of Obama should expect to receive a text message from Obama early tomorrow to let them know of his choice.

UPDATE: Sources tell CNN that Obama has not chosen Bayh, but rather he has chosen Delaware Senator Joe Biden. The official announcement will be made Saturday.

lindsaylohanlolla.jpg

We spotted Lindsay Lohan hanging out stage side while rumored girlfriend, Sam Ronson, was DJing at the Rock the Vote party at the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago on Saturday night. Lindsay looked beautiful, wearing a pair of her own leggings, and she seemed happy, smiling several times at one of our own writers (who happens to be female) and occasionally moving to the music. Even with so many stars in town for Lollapalooza Lindsay was no doubt the most talked about. If only Lindsay would come to Chi-town more often.

Insider Gossip recently interviewed upcoming singer, Lesley Roy. She will be debuting her video for the hit single “I’m Going, I’m Gone” on tonight’s episode of FN MTV, hosted by Pete Wentz.

You have such a mature sound and message for being just 21 years old. Do you have any major life experiences you can tell us about that have helped shape who you are as a musician today?

I definitely think I have a mature sound for my age. I grew up with just my mum and my sister, my mum was a single parent, you know, we all had to stick together. I had to, you know, mature faster than my friends. I had to help my mom look after my sister. We were a small family that had to stick together. So I think that made me very mature for my age.

How do you go about writing a song? Can you give us some insight into the process you go through?

Some days I go to the studio with a song title I want to work around a story and then some days I come in with some lyrics I have put together in my room and sometimes myself and the writers I’ve been working with sit down with our guitars and come up with something together. So there are a couple of different ways, but the way I feel actually works best for me is when I am by myself on my guitar and I sing and write lyrics and figure out an emotional story I want to talk about.

What was it like working with such amazing producers, especially Max Martin?

I mean, it was daunting at first but now we’re best friends. He’s so down-to-earth and genuine and just has such a great passion for his work and gave me so much power and control over the songs that we wrote together. It made me feel so much more confident about my sound and songs. He is such a huge, huge producer and one of the best, in fact, of the past 15 years comes to me and is like, “you know, look, you’ve gotta write, leave that lyric, leave that cord, leave that vocal, that’s perfect, let’s do it your way.” It gave me a great confident boost and now we’re great friends so it was daunting at first, but now it’s amazing to have someone like that behind me and behind this album.

There seems to be a lot of female artists coming from overseas to the U.S. right now and making it big. Why do you think that is?

Oh God, I don’t know, I guess just the way the circle goes around? Just the way the industry works and the world works and I guess it’s time for it, time for some European artists to come back to the States. I think it happens every 10,12 years, you had the British invasion back in the 60s and the Stones and the Beetles came over, and U2 came over to the states from Dublin so I think it just goes around in a circle. It’s time.

You’re premiering your video on FN MTV next week. Are you nervous about what the reaction will be, or are you excited?
Again, both. I’m nervous with the haters, I’ve been watching the show, kids come on and they say what parts of the video they hate, and how they don’t like the artist, but then you get the lovers as well who are going to enjoy the video but um, yeah I’m nervous but really excited. It’s a step in the right direction for us with the single, it’s going to help us a lot with radio and charting.

Are you a fan of Pete Wentz and Fall Out Boy? (Pete Wentz hosts FN MTV)

Yeah! I love Fall Out Boy. I think they are great, I always enjoy them. I think it’s great that MTV is doing the show as well, it’s putting the emphasis on videos and not reality shows, yeah I love Fall Out Boy.

Pete could arguably be called the leader of the “emo” scene. Did you go through similar trends or phases through your teen years?

Yeah, definitely, I went through a very gothic rock look when iw as 15, 16. It only lasted for a year and then I went back into my just simple rock look. Not too much emo, I mean, I wear my jeans and I wear my chucks and my vests onstage, so I mean, that’s been my look. I dipped out of it for a minute but I returned fairly quickly.

Tell us a little about your album and why we should check it out.

Check my album out because it’s definitely got a different sound than anything else that’s out right now. What’s different about me compared to some of the other girls out there right now is I co-wrote every song on this album; I’m attached to every single lyric, every single note, every time that guitar hits different cords, you know, I’m attached to it. Ten different people didn’t sit down and mechanically make the sound someone wanted it to be like. This is 100% honesty, genuinely coming from the heart. Musically, it’s a really great album, it’s different and people should check it out.

If you were a fly whose wall would you land on?

Wow! Great question. Ok, hm, right now, I think probably Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s wall to see what the hell is going on there! I’d love to know, I love Madonna, I want to see what’s happening!

American Idol contestant, Ace Young, is finally releasing his self-titled debut album next Tuesday, July 15th. The first single of the album is titled “Addicted” and it’s actually pretty good. Ace wrote 7 out of the 11 songs on the album and judging by his co-writing skills on Chris Daughtry’s smash hit “It’s Not Over,” you can assume that the cd has many more good songs.

Check out the video for Ace Young’s “Addicted”
