staind.jpgAlternative/rock/hardcore band "Staind," hailing from Springfield, Massachusetts, is currently on tour with "Hoobastank."  Staind consists of four members: Aaron Lewis, vocals, acoustic; Mike Mushok, guitar; Johnny April, bass; Jon Wysocki, drums.  Currently signed to Atlantic/Flip, Staind has recently (August 19, 2008) released their sixth studio album, "The Illusion of Progress."

Staind was formed when the current band members met through association, and began to cover songs ranging from Korn to Pearl Jam.  Their first album, "Tormented" was self-released in November, 1996, and only four thousand copies were originally sold.  Staind has been recognized numerous times throughout their career, and have made a great progression as a band: "The Illusion of Progress" debuted at number three on US Billboard 200, and number one on the Top Modern Rock/Alternative Albums Chart to name a few.  Furthermore, Staind has been privileged to tour alongside of noteworthy names including "Nickelback," "Hoobastank," "P.O.D.," "Taproot," and "Flyleaf."

Staind credits much of the development of their latest album, "The Illusion of Progress" to their producer Johnny K (3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold) who motivated and nurtured the creativity of both Mikr Mushok, and Aaron Lewis while working.  What also aided in creating a successful record was the ability to stay in control of their project.  The majority of the album was recorded in Lewis' home studio, with the drums played in the band's rehearsal studio in Massachusetts: “We had the two studios set up, and he would work between the two studios almost every day... When you have your own place and you’re doing it your own way, there are no time constraints. Of course you want to get it done, but it drags on a bit more. We might have spent a few weeks more than we needed to on the album, but that’s why it sounds like it does. We’d spend five hours trying to find the right tone for a guitar part, because we had that luxury, then it would take me five minutes to lay the part down.”

From originally self releasing their first album, to producing albums which would later sell millions of records, Staind has ensured that their name would not go unknown.  Staind has made a name for itself in the record industry and created a band that was sure to keep fans happy, and secure a loyal fan base for years.
