"Two teenage girls come into a major social blunder and decide the best way to resolve it and regain positive popularity is to have the hottest boy band come play at their school", is how Eric Dill describes 'Taking 5', the witty-titled film starring his band, and his first silver screen appearance.
"They decide to go about this by kidnapping [the band] and, as the drama unfolds, you learn more about the girls' 'best friend' relationship," he continues. "I don't want to give away too much 'cause that's part of the fun [of] watching." On his first big-screen role, Dill admits there were a few touch-and-go moments. At one point in the filming process, he said, "I knew the lines but, for some reason, I was experiencing a strange inability to get them out- it was quite embarrassing." Remaining positive though, Dill said he had enjoyed the experience of making a movie alot and that he will keep going with it. "I've become a fan of acting," he confesses, "[but], as for music, I'm not sure anything can remove or replace my passion for it so there will have to be room for both." Dill, for those of you, like me, who didn't know, is the frontman of rock band, The Click Five. This real band play the fake band 5 Leo Rise who are, as Dill says, kidnapped. Presumably following a similar format to Just My Luck (2005) and being followed by Camp Rock (2008), some may find it hard to be enthused into watching the film. "I do think the story was well crafted," defends Dill. "It was fun to make and I know that sentiment has been captured and comes through when watching the film." On making the film, it was the process itself that Dill came to love. "I wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first film, but everyone involved was very helpful. I find it interesting that, no matter what is going on around the set, when the camera is rolling you have to suspend all of that and portray your character in the scene." "The best parts," he continues, "were getting to perform real takes of scenes that I practiced privately. The worst were waiting long stints of time for the shot to be ready and switching to night shoots, where your days began at 5pm and ended around 5am." Part of a majorly successful band and with a silver-screen appaearance under his belt, Dill is obviously multi-talented. "He is likely [to be]," his dad adds, "one of the only rock stars who can program a robot." What that has to do with anything, I'm not sure, but what we can be certain of is that Dill isn't going to disappear any time soon. "We were approached to do the film as our video for 'Just the Girl' caught people's attention" he discloses. So, of this hot, young rock-star-turned-actor? "I am single," he declares, "I look for a girl who is smart, good-looking, fun and comfortable with herself." Oh Dill, isn't that what they all say?
