Colin Farrell was born on the 31st March, 1976 in Dublin, Ireland. Known for his amazing acting abilities and presence on the camera, surprisingly acting was not his first ambition when he was younger; as a child he hoped to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a footballer. After many years of finding himself, Colin realised his passion for acting and joined the Gaiety School of Drama, however it didn’t last long. Farrell dropped out, not liking the authority and rules cast over him.
Quickly followed were roles in drama’s which would raise his profile, particularly in Ireland. He then got a part in Tigerland, directed by Joel Schumacher and soon became known as the next big thing, starring in many films. His popularity increasing, he then met Amelia Warner, they married quickly, but they were too young for such a commitment, Farrell being only 25, whilst Warner being a mere 19 years old. The couple soon filed for divorce. Farrell decided to move onto bigger projects, starring alongside Bruce Willis in, Hart's War, straight after that came Spielberg’s, Minority Report, alongside Tom Cruise. 2003, was a great year for Farrell, whereby he starred in no more than 6 films, The Recruit, Daredevil, Phone Booth, Veronica Guerin, A Home At The End Of The World, and SWAT. His success ever increasing Farrell was the new big thing. However, Farrell being a very open person, his views regarding the IRA were expressed, as well as his use of drugs, which he openly said he used. He also controversially talked about his many partners and his years of gallivanting after women. Now, Farrell has calmed down from his wild young days. At 33 years old Farrell aims to spend more time with his son, who unfortunately has a rare genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome. Farrell says that he wants to watch his son grow up and be a good dad. Quote this article on your site
