When Mandy Moore first burst on the music scene in the 90s, she was known as our little, bubbly blonde pop star. She soon jumped from the recording studio to the big screen and back again, and with each transformation her hairstyles have changed as well. Mandy is now donning a more sophisticated short cut, with demure brown locks softly sweeping over her beautiful face. Whether she’s got the long blond locks or she sports a short brown bob, Mandy Moore always chooses a color and a cut that suits her facial features perfectly.
Mandy Moore’s current style is a no-frills kind of look. If you lead an on-the-go life style, short haircuts allow you to just “blow and go.” But if you want to spend a bit of extra time on your hair and glam it up for a night on the town, you just need a few simple tools to get her stunning album-cover look:
- Moose
- Blow dryer
- Roll brush
- Set of thick rollers
- Hair spray
First, shampoo and condition your hair thoroughly, then comb it out. Take the can of moose and squeeze a small bit into your palm. Start at the crown and work the moose down to the root. This will stiffen your hair enough to allow the curls to set once your hair dries. In sections, partially blow-dry your hair using the roll brush to curl each strand (any way you like, under or over) as you go. You shouldn’t dry your hair completely so that when you put it in the rollers, your hair will continue to set as it dries, needing less product to hold it in position.
After your hair is partially dry, start separating it into thicker sections for the rolling process. However, make sure the strands are not too thick, as each one must wrap around one of the rollers. Once you’ve got your whole head all rolled up, take a break for a half hour and let the rest of your hair dry on its own. If you want to get the show on the road, though, you could put the dryer on low and use it to speed up the process a bit.
Once your hair is completely dry, take out the rollers, but don’t brush the curls! If you want to separate them, use your fingers to gingerly place your curls where you like. Brushing them only turns your head into one big ball of frizz. To ensure the style will last all night long, spray your hair lightly, all around.
