While her rock-chic wardrobe is hard to do on a budget, her hair certainly is not. We show you how to get her gorgeous burgundy do’ without all the celeb hair stylists at your beck and call.

The Cut: Ashlee’s got length and layers! Get a cut with long side bangs and layers at the front. If you’ve got natural curls then get layers done all over! It’ll look good even when you don’t take the time out to blow dry it a la Ms. Simpson-Wentz.

The Color: One thing about Ashlee, she isn’t scared to experiment. This naturally blonde babe is now sporting vivid copper-toned locks that, let's face it, not everyone can pull off. Shades of red hair vary from light strawberry to fiery copper to rich auburn. If you are going from a blonde or brunette to being a new red-head, it is best to get it done professionally at a salon. DIY hair colors, in this case, is tricky because the color on the box might not be the color you end up with. So invest in a good colorist and decide which shade of red suits your skin tone best.

The Style: For Ashlee’s sleek, shiny modern look you’ll need:

• Blowdryer
• Jumbo Rollers
• Straightening Cream/Balm
• Setting Spray/Hairspray
• Leave in Conditioner
• Straightening Iron

The curlier your hair is, the longer it will take to straighten it and I should know having been born with natural ringlets that REFUSE to stay straight. But with these easy steps (and a little bit of time) you can get your hair to look like Ashlee’s too!

Start off by washing your hair with a shampoo and conditioner that’s designed to sleek and straighten your locks. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine is one of my favorites in this category. It leaves your hair incredibly manageable and has that yummy fruity smell. After washing, scrunch all the water out of your hair and let it air dry for a couple of minutes. Make sure all the water has run out of your hair before this next step! Now squeeze a dime-size amount, or more/less according to the length of your hair, straightening balm/cream in the palm of your hand and mix it with some Leave-In-Conditioner. You can use your regular leave in for this as well as any good straightening balm. I prefer Body Shops Macademia Straightening Balm, which works great and smells like ice cream (seriously!). Work it evenly along the length of your hair.

Next, take large sections of your hair and wrap it around Jumbo Rollers securing them tightly in place. Plug in your Blowdryer and dry your hair thoroughly! This is VERY important, as the slightest bit of moisture will cause your hair to frizz.

Now, the last and final step is to take sections of your hair, mist it with hairspray and THEN run a straightening iron through it. This will give your hair that sleek, shiny look and straight edges. For curly girlies, this’ll also prevent your hair from relapsing to its original texture.

All done! Now you are ready for a night out with the girls or that hot date you’ve been looking forward to.
