Steve and Barry’s have created the Starbury line of fashionable, quality shoes for a reasonable price starting at $8.98! New York Knicks' Point Guard Stephon Marbury and Ben Wallace endorse the Starbury line, which is only sold at Steve and Barry's.
In September 2006, the market for basketball shoes was forever changed with the creation of the Starbury line. At first critics questioned the validity that the shoes are the same quality as expensive ones, but in the October 2007 edition of “Consumer Reports,” experts proved critics wrong with test results proving "The Starbury One" were just as good. They reported that “The Starbury Two” displays “heel cushioning that is very good, its forefoot cushioning is good, and that it's very breathable and fairly flexible.” Both Marbury and Wallace are known for wearing the shoes that they endorse for each and every game. The Starbury is modeled after Marbury and features five main designs: “The Starbury One,” “The Starbury Two”, “Starbury SXM,” “Starbury Crossovers” (an “Air Force One” style shoe), and finally the “Starbury Cyclones” (similar to “New Balance shoes). In response to the criticism that the Starbury line has faced since its creation, Marbury states “I think more people talk about the fact that the shoes are $14.98. And that’s what it’s really about.” In April 2007, the ‘Big Ben’ was created for Ben Wallace. Wallace states on his website, “I watched my mom raise a family of 11 kids. I know if she had this (Steve and Barry’s) it would have been easier on her (www.bigbenwallace.com). Ben Wallace’s shoes feature breathability, extra traction, and extra support and stability. "We’ve created a lifestyle for everyone-at an affordable price," says Marbury. And, we couldn't be happier that someone did it. If you want a pair of Starbury's or Big Ben's you better hurry because they may only be available for a short time. Steve and Barry's is reportedly going to be shutting its stores soon.
