Written by Chad Kennedy

brandontrentham.jpgWith just $300 to his name, Brandon Trentham left his home in Tennessee and set out for New York City to make his mark on the modeling world. At just 26 years old, Brandon has already been the face of ALDO, along with Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, and a long list of others. Besides modeling, Brandon has been a tabloid sensation for dating hotties like Kourtney Kardashian. When he's not showing off his pretty face and hot bod or dating celebrities, Brandon is helping others and making a difference by running marathons and organizing charity events.

Teen Scene: When you moved to NYC, you moved straight into a models apartment. What was it like going from living in the Smoky Mountains to living in New York with a bunch of models?

Brandon Trentham: Literally moving with 2 suitcases, $300 dollars to my name, never being to a big city, and having a dream is what it took. From the day I touched down in NY I knew I had found what I was looking for. God had given me the help in landing a great agency that loved me and believed in me. I moved into one of their model apartments in Brooklyn with up to 8 guys sometimes during fashion weeks. Coming from a spotless, warm, and family based home to an apartment with dirty guys that didn't shower, smoked a lot of weed, and a decorated apartment with things they found on the streets was definitely a shocker to say the least. I knew it had to work until I could afford my own spot there was no turning back now.

Teen Scene: Since then you have had an amazing modeling career. What has been your favorite campaign to be a part of and why?

Brandon Trentham: Honestly ive been so blessed from being in about every major fashion magazine, to billboards, trains, and atop taxi's, but there is one that does stand out for sure. Last year I was the face of ALDO and it was literally plastered everywhere, but the key placement was on the billboards on the corner of Broadway and Houston in SoHo. My best  girl friend lived next door and I had just moved to LA then, so she would call and text me all the time simply because she would see my 30 ft face when she walked out her door and wanna talk and it helped my move out significantly.

Teen Scene: You and Kourtney Kardashian were photographed by the paparazzi together earlier this year. How did you feel about the paparazzi and tabloid attention? Were you surprised by Kourtney's pregnancy news?

Brandon Trentham: HAHA! Awwwww the paps! I mean....... I guess I should say I'm thankful they even wanna take my picture. I have kinda gotten used to it (strangely enough) over the years with famous friends and crazies I've dated. I think there is a very thin line with them and it seems they have been crossing it alot lately and that's not cool. With Kourtney, she is a very sweet girl. We are friends and I think the baby is amazing news for her and Scott and I wish them the best.

Teen Scene: Modeling has given you the opportunity to give back in some big ways from the Marc Jacobs Skin Cancer campaign to throwing a GALA for Kids for Tomorrow. What inspired you to get involved with these projects? Can you tell us more about how you turned your birthday into an annual event where you are raising money and awareness for charities?

Brandon Trentham: The main thing that flipped the switch for me, was my stepfather becoming very ill. I started out with the MS WALK, MARC JACOBS Skin Cancer t-shirt,  and the Virginia Tech Shooting Fundraiser. Then, I decided what an easy way to raise money for charity by having it on my birthday so I did it for 2 organizations, Kids For Tomorrow and The Aids Foundation. It was a major success and since I have done countless fundraisers, organized a 60 person team for the LA Aids Walk , and walked the LA Cancer Challenge. I am planning on having another charity birthday party next week and training for the Aids Marathon(26.2 miles) and Aids Bike Ride from San Fran to LA(550 miles over 7 days).

Teen Scene: What are some ways that we all can get involved with the projects you're doing?

Brandon Trentham: Well, depending on finances and location of the person there are several ways. If you would want to follow my charity work and get involved in it, I keep it posted on my Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/pages/Brandon-Trentham/138214338297?ref=ts. Readers can also donate to help me raise my funds for the upcoming Aids Marathon at: http://apla.convio.net/site/TR/Events/NationalAIDSMarathonTrainingProgram-MARATHONONLY?px=1352701&pg=personal&fr_id=1050. I am also involved with several other charities full time and if you write me on FB you can help from your location.

Teen Scene: You are also doing the LA Aids Marathon in March and South Beach Triathlon for St. Judes in April. How do you prepare for these?

Brandon Trentham: Well training is obviously not easy. For the marathon I am running 4 times a week and on sundays practicing with a team running an extra mile each week. For the triathlon we train 6 days a week alternating biking 25 miles and running 5-8 miles afterward to swimming a half mile and lifting. Your body gets wore out but it's well worth it. I want to do an Ironman sometime in the near future.

Teen Scene: What are some of your secrets to looking so good? What is your workout and daily beauty routine like?

Brandon Trentham: Looking good huh. Ummm, well I'm old school and kind of a guys guy. I don't moisturize and I don't do surgery. I think the key is in being healthy. Try to get plenty of sleep every night, drink more than 8 glasses of water a day, and always try to at least break a sweat daily. They always say you are what you eat and that's very true. I love junk like the next guy, but the key is in moderation.

Teen Scene: In addition to modeling and charity work, you also write for StyleCaster.com. Can you tell us what your personal fashion style is three favorite items in your closet?

Brandon Trentham: My style is from A-Z. Nothing makes sense nor has rhythm or rythem, I like to be unexpecting and off the wall. Thats what makes fashion so fun, you can be yourself expressing it through your wardrobe without saying a word.

Teen Scene: What advice do you have for aspiring models?

Brandon Trentham: Not to burst any bubbles, but this industry when making it a career choice and not a hobby... is very difficult. Your odds of making it aren't great, but with anything in life, hard work and perseverance pay off greatly. That being said, first choices are important. Pick the agent that worships you and thinks you hung the moon and keep them thinking that, hit all the events and be seen not heard, the more agents in the more cities it just equals more work. The best advice I could give period is if you have $5.00 use $2.50 of it on PR once you make it!

Teen Scene: If you were a fly whose wall would you land on?

Brandon Trentham: If I were a fly, I would be on the White House wall the night the Obama's got elected and shut the door realizing they just made history and hear their words to each other!

Thanks to Brandon and his agency, Front Model Management, for our interview!
