Model Monday: Don Schneider PDF Print E-mail

donschneider.jpgThis month we are celebrating those who embrace activism whether it be for a certain cause or a charity. Our first featured model of our Activism issue is Don Schneider, who has made it his mission to help America improve their health and fitness. Don founded his own nutritional supplement company, Relive Research and Development Corp, in 2004.

We recently spoke to Don who had this to say, "much of what I do now comes from my passion for helping people feel better about themselves, and therefore be a positive impact on society. Most of the general public (67% of America is overweight or obese) chases the images of fashion and beauty magazines without knowing or having the tools on how to get there. Being in the modeling industry firsthand and behind the scenes has exposed me to some of the unhealthy ways that models, actors and wannabes stay thin and this inspired me even more to develop a safe and healthier way for weight management and fat loss."

How did you get discovered as a model?

I was approached while shopping on Miami Beach one weekend

Have you had a favorite campaign to work on? If so, what was it and why is it your favorite?

I am thankful to have had many great trips and shoots with great photographers, clients, and people and all were memorable whether they were an editorial, catalog, or campaign…when I worked with Kate Moss on Versace in Miami and Josie Maran on Gap in NY it was quite a thrill for my ego at the time, but the lasting memories are shoots I did in other countries and the experiences I had there.

You are now modeling and running your own company, Relive Research & Development Corp, at the same time. What does your company do?

I develop and formulate sports nutrition products and wellness projects.  My company just produced our first product, REACT, and energy product, performance enhancement, and weight management tool.  A motivator and a clean energy to give people a more conscious option to the energy drinks, fatburners, and stimulants that are so prevalent.

You also develop fitness events, and work with many non-profits and charities. How do you find time to be a part of all of these activities?

Engineering school taught me how solve problems and create efficient and effective ways to do so. When you eat right and workout regular'y you have more energy to do what you want to do…and don’t forget that I formulated an energy product designed for maximizing your efforts by providing energy, focus, and endurance.

The key focus of your company is being healthy and improving fitness, so how do you personally stay healthy and looking so good?

Running in the morning (although it may be hard) is the best way to start a healthy day (and burn fat for energy).  I will also lift weights a few times a week and do yoga to build and maintain strength and flexibility .  When you do it and what you put in your body before and after make a huge difference on your results.  The Reengineering Rules (on www.relivecorp.com) give great results when one is able to follow them consistently. That is what they are there for.

What advice do you have for aspiring models?

You have to want to do it, be good at it, work with a team that can help you develop, and have a natural ability that makes you a star.  Its kind of like playing a sport and making it to the professional level.  And even if you’re professional doesn’t mean your famous or you may not be famous for long.  You don’t see every person who wants to play football on the cover of a magazine or playing in the NFL...most don’t make it past high school or college level and even in to the NFL.

If you were a fly whose wall would you land on?

I probably would just fly around looking for a window unless Einstein, Jesus, and Darwin were in the same room.
