Model Monday: Catherine Hunter PDF Print E-mail
Written by Chad Kennedy

catherinehunter.jpgYou could say she is the typical All-American model - 5' 8", blue eyes, blonde hair - but Catherine Hunter isn't just some ditsy girl. Originally from New York, Catherine is a girl who enjoys getting her hands dirty when the cameras are off. From fishing and hiking to chess and paintball, there aren't too many things Catherine isn't interested in, and that's why she is this Monday's featured model.

catherinehunter2.jpgcatherinehunter3.jpgWhen did you start modeling and how did you get discovered?

At age 16, I enrolled two of my sisters in Barbizon and completed the program. At the final graduation ceremony, I was scouted and signed by Exxcel Model and Talent, NYC.

Who have you modeled for?

I have done runway work including designer shows and informal modeling. I have also worked as on the TV show 'All My Children'.

Best and worst aspect of being a model?

The best thing about modeling is the opportunity it has given me to meet new people, see different places, and experience memorable adventures. The worst thing about modeling is the potential for rejection.

Any crazy things happen while at a shoot?

Once while manican modeling, someone jumped out and yelled just to see if I would flinch. I wanted to burst out laughing but held it together. Afterwards, the person said, "Wow, you're good at this, you should apply for the guard position at Buckingham Palace!"

What do you do to stay in model form? Can you give us an idea of what your workout routine is like, what you eat, etc?

Staying active is the key to staying fit. Find what you like to do and incorporate it into a daily workout. I have always been a competitive athlete and striving for victory encourages me to stay at the top of my game.

If you could be anything else besides a model, what would you be?

I do not know what the future holds for me but I want to ride the wave of modeling as far as it will take me. What I do know is that continuing my education is mandatory for success in whatever I chose to do.

If you were a fly whose wall would you land on?

I would be a fly on my sister's wall to see when they were plotting to "borrow" my clothes.

What advice do you have for aspiring models?

It is an extremely competitive industry so staying ahead of the game is a necessity. Always ask yourself, "What do I have to offer that is more extraordinary than other models?" Taking different classes, workshops, and skill enhancing programs will help to keep you prepared. Be willing to do things out of your own comfort zone because you never know where it may lead or what doors it may open for you. Appreciate living in the moment, try to be a blessing to those around you, and most of all, never compromise your moral or work ethics.
